Well, you really need practice, and it helps if the kids are well-behaved, and also if they're with you short-term, but here are a few tips. (By popular demand. ) - Remember what you were like as a child, and try to be honest with yourself in seeing in other children.
- Be that child, in a way. Enjoy playing in the McDonalds PlayPlace, *ahem*. *Points to self* (And prepare for a sore back. Those things are small!)
- Be firm. If you make it clear, by firmness of voice and face that you will not stand for children squirting shampoo around the bathroom, for instance, they will know that you are to be reckoned with, and even a misbehaving child will not likely cross you and your firm face/voice combination again. But the firmness is very important the first time.
